The Campaign

The StopGunDeaths.Org campaign is a project of Freedom States Alliance.

The goal of the campaign is to create an online community of individuals who are joining together to end gun violence in America.

By coming together, we collectively have the power to make our voices heard. One lit candle to end gun violence, joined by dozens, hundreds and thousands of others will send a clear message to our lawmakers that Americans:

• will not tolerate the over 30,000 gun deaths in our country each year;
• will not tolerate the unacceptable influence the gun lobby and gun manufacturers have over our policymakers;
• demand that more be done to stem the tide of gun violence in our schools and communities.

For each 1,000 candles lit, a poster size petition with the 1,000 listed names, will be sent to the White House, the Senate Majority Leader and the Speaker of the House. Also, each 1,000th person to sign the petition will receive a copy of Geoffrey Canada's book Fist, Stick, Knife, Gun.

We are asking individuals from across the country to show their support by lighting one candle today and please vow to take one simple action that will make a difference.
